This is a work in progress.... Sometimes new families are very good about keeping in touch and I thought I would share the emailed comments I have received.

I just wanted to let you know that Mr. Sam is doing great and is huge now! He went to the vet yesterday and got shots etc and he is in great health and is 23.5 pounds!!!!!! Anyway, we'll keep you posted if you'd like and I'll get some pics off soon.

Thanks again.

sam2yrsa----------------------

We just wanted to let you know that Sam is doing so great!! We just love him so much and anyone who has met him has said what a sweet puppy he is and how he has such a great personality and is so cute and gentle. The girls may disagree when he's chasing them around the house but they love him just the same. He's pretty much housebroken (no accidents in the house in almost a week) and loves to play with us and Harley, he knows his name and is actually starting to catch a toy and bring it back to us...

Anyway, Ray and I were just saying how happy we are with him and I thought I'd pass that along. If anyone wants a recomendation from us we'd be more than happy to give a glowing report.

Take care.

----------------------

I thought I'd update you on Sam's progress:

Last weight check (May 31) he was 43 pounds!!!!!!!! He is so funny and such a great puppy. We are so thankful that we got him and love him so much. Right now he's alternately sitting on Harley's head and chewing on his (harley's) feet, they are constantly nibbling on each other, though sometimes Sam is too rough and Harley lets him know who's boss!

He's doing pretty well with obedience, though we just got a "gentle lead" harness for him beause he's so strong and he pulls a lot and we need to have him on a leash outside since we have invisible fence and he's too young for that yet. He can sit and we're working on stay and come.

We finally registered him with AKC and his name is Chocolate Brown Sam-I-Am...strange I know but the paperwork said for it to be distinctive/creative so that was the best we could do(??!!)

We're moving to a new town and we'll have 2 acres for him to play and roam around in, I'm sure he'll love that.

I apologize that I STILL havent' sent any pictures, I'll try before we move, he is beautiful and has such a great temperment.

Thank you so much!

-------------------------

I am sorry it's taken me FOREVER to send pics of Sam, we have some cute ones from when we first got him too but these are the most recent, a few weeks ago.

He is such a fabulous dog we just love him soooo much!! Do his parents retrieve everything in sight? He is constantly getting sticks, branches, trees...even the garden hose! He saw his first snow today and we can't get him inside! He was a little hesitant at first and wouldn't get down off the porch but now he loves it and catches snow balls and digs his nose in it. And he steals the girls' mittens and hats off of them...oh well, he can't be perfect.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

-----------------------

I realized I hadn't updated you on Sam much lately....

He is such a great dog!!!!! His disposition is so sweet and loyal. We graduated from the beginner and novice dog obedience classes and would have continued but we were doing a lot of agility moves and I am pregnant and didn't want to take a tumble if he decided he didn't want to jump through the hoops! He walks well on a leash/collar but even better with a Gentle Leader, Maddie can walk him with that on. He loves to go to the bus stop a twice a day (in nice weather) and see the kids.

We lost our beloved Harley the end of July and that was really hard on Sam. He wouldn't drink out of their shared water dish (still won't) and was quite depressed for a few weeks; he has been a little spoiled since then...Ray lets him on the couch (!!), but it is funny because Sam will not get up there if Ray isn't here, he knows I don't allow it. He is so smart! So, we're debating the getting-another-dog scenerio but I dont' think I could handle a puppy and a newborn. Our baby (another girl) is due in Feb. But in the mean time he plays a lot with our neighbor's german shepard-Bear and they romp and play several times a week. And Ray's parents have a golden retreiver that Sam loves too. As a matter of fact, if you say to Sam, "Where's Maisy?? or Where's Bear??" He goes to the door barking looking for them!! We'll have to send you some updated pics soon.

Anyway, I know this is long but wanted to let you know how delightful he is and he is growing into a wonderful "teenager". Please keep us updated on any litters you have coming up. If we end up getting another puppy it would be from you but I'm not sure if are going to go that route...

Thanks,

-------------------------

I think we are getting ready for a puppy and Sam really is a social dog and needs a full time friend. I can't remember when you'll be having a nother litter but could you put us on the list for when ever that is?

Sam is doing great and has adjusted to having a newborn around pretty well. The baby, Grace, was actually born the day after Sam's birthday so they will really grow up together!

Anyway, let us know about future pups.

Thanks and hope all is well in Oklahoma!

-------------------

I am so sad but we cannot take a puppy :( We took in a rescue in September, Jimmy, a chocolate lab and it is totally overwhelming. I should have let you know earlier but honestly, I was hoping we'd give Jimmy back, I don’t really like him and he is pretty out of control most days. We finally got a shock collar (!!) and that seems to be helping a bit, but Ray doesn't feel right giving him back so he's here to stay I guess.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and if anything changes I'll certainly let you know.

--------------------

Thanks, I need all the luck I can get with Jimmy!! Interestingly, and thankfully, none of his (MANY) bad habits have transferred to Sam, in fact, when Jimmy gets/chews stuff he's not supposed to Sam takes it away from him and brings it to me. I've never seen anything like it! :)

Thanks,

Bosco 16moaHi Sherri! How are you?

Bosco is doing great. He is such a good puppy - he is getting a little independent lately (not listening!!) but we still love him to death!!

And, of course, he is spoiled rotten. I have sent you a couple of pics. One was taken about 2 months ago and the one of him on the couch was taken this weekend. He is about 60 pounds now! And I think he has a few growth spurts to go yet.

How is your new litter doing? I would love to see some pics!!

Hope you are doing well!

------------------------

Of course I don't mind being a reference. Bosco is such a great dog - I can always brag on him!!

He weighs about 60+ pounds - and as you know he will only be 6 months on Friday. I think he is going to be a big boy. He is getting much more independent. He doesn't listen like he used to and it drives me crazy - especially because I know he knows better! But I have to say - he has not ruined anything. I prepared myself for having my belongings chewed up, but he was pretty good about sticking to his toys. I have some teeth marks in a few things, but nothing bad.

Well, you will have to send me some pics of the new litter! How old are they now?

Thanks for giving me the heads up on the reference - and feel free to pass along my email for any more you may need!

Thanks,

---------------------------

I can't believe he is already a year old!! Your website is great - and the pups are gorgeous. I have been thinking about getting a little brother for Bosco, but don't know if I am ready to commit yet. He would love it though.

I couldn't ask for a better dog. He is so smart and sweet, with a precious face. He thinks he is a lap dog, and just wants to snuggle all the time. He is also so sharp. He is starting to distinguish between toys and we are working on catching frisbees and balls. He also will just sit and listen to you. If I am talking to him, he just looks at me, and cocks his little head. He is so expressive.

Ok, I can go on and on about my baby - but I know you can fully appreciate it!!

Keep in touch an good luck with the new pups!!

He is doing very good...he is on his way to being completely house broken....he has an appointment tomorrow with his new vet. He has grown so much, I just realized yesterday how big he is getting. He is also becoming more active and not wanting to sleep as much, now if we could get him to understand that we need to sleep at night and not during the day. He is adjusting great, and it is really nice that Bret and I work opposite shifts, so someone is home with him the majority of the time. My daughter is absolutely in love with him and never lets him out of her site. When I get my pictures developed I will scan them into my computer and send them to you.

baileyapr13Hi Sherry-
As u can see, she's growing nicely. Having a bit of a problem with her mistaking the babies for chew toys but I assume that will get better with time!! I couldn't ask for a better dog. So far she has no chain or kennel outside-she stays in the yard or on the back porch. When she's tired of being outside she comes in and either goes right into her crate or on her bed in the dining room. when she and the kids get better with each other i will take some pics.

-------------------

Bailey is the perfect dog!! I was just looking at the pics I sent you and she is so much bigger than that now. It's been hot here too-so we don't see much of her during the day until the sun goes down and it cools off. She stays under the an old car we have in the dirt where it's cool. Actually, she won't be able to fit much longer. She's about 45 pounds now. We love her sooo much!! I call her my chocolate daughter. I'll send more pictures of her soon. Thanks for checking on her!!

Sherri,

After the surprise gift to my wife which went very well we both agree that the purple puppy has a great low key attitude. This from our other chocolate is completely different but welcome. His name may be "Charley" if the wife wants that name.

He will be at the vet this week for the next shot and the examine. I will let you know how all is which we are sure is fine.

Have a good day,

Everything went well! Beautiful dog and my two little kids are having a ball with there new dog. My 2 year old girl was very upset last night because she wanted to sleep with the dog! Seems to have a great temperment so far. Give us a holler once in a while if your interested in checking on his development. Thanks again.

I will have my son e-mail you some pics. She is GREAT! At first our Brittany Spaniel and Maggie did not get along -- but now they are great friends, now that Maggie is bigger than her. Maggie is going to be a beautiful chocolate lab. She's all puppy right now of course -- she is having a litttle trouble getting the hang of the invisible fence. I'm taking her colar in today to have it checked. She is VERY smart so I'm convinced that there is something wrong with the frequency on the collar.

We'll try to get you some pics here soon.

Sherri, I have to apologize for not getting back to you, and sending you a photo of Maddie- we did take photos, but she has gotten so big. We need to take new photos.

Maddie is becoming a beautiful dog. She has a beautiful coat and beautiful eyes. She is also pretty obedient, and knows her name and simple commands. Her personality is developing, and I think she is going to be very good dog. Everyone who meets her always comments on how beautiful she is.

We have a large back yard, and she prefers to be outside. We also have a new member in our household. After Maddie arrived, I received an email from another breeder, with a litter with black labs that were just born. In my moment of weakness ( after viewing a several photos of puppies), I ended up adopted another puppy ( I went back and forth for weeks). We now have Max, who is about 8 weeks younger than Maddie. Although Max is a lot smaller than Maddie, he does not allow her to boss him around and stands his ground! ( My intent is to breed the two dogs in about two years, providing all checks out).

They get along pretty well although Maddie gets too rough sometimes. Jacques, my 12 year old standard wants nothing to do with the puppies, and Lilly has become a very good adoptive mother. She is constantly discipling Maddie, by barking at her, or letting her know when she is getting too rough with Max.

Maddie loves to eat and never seems to get enough, unlike Max, who seems to be a fussy eater.

I promise to send some photos. I also need to get her registered asap. I have to admit, Maddie is much prettier that our black lab, with those long legs!

Take care and good luck with your new litter of chocolate labs!

daisyjun1a Daisy was spayed last Friday and is currently recovering, although, I'm not even sure she knows anything happened to her. She came home the day after the surgery and was wanting to play and wrestle with Holly for hours. I had to try and keep her calm, but then she would be right back on top of Holly to play some more! She's a lot of fun, a lot of work, but very much worth it all! We are planning a car trip to Austin maybe in August to see my family, and we are taking both dogs with us. It will take 2 days, so our goal is to get her potty trustworthy and hotel bark free by then! I have included a few photos so you can see how big she is getting. Thanks for checking on her and it's always good to hear from you! Good luck with the new puppies! Have you stayed in touch with Daisy's other litter mates? How is everybody?

Talk to you soon
